Creating images through play and catharsis

Tara (She/they) is a queer artist and painter. Their work serves as a visual misremembering; the backgrounds often abstract behind a more focused and detailed subject. The colorful paintings equally celebrate, and mourn, bygone nostalgic comforts, often referencing the technology and video games they would play as a child. She's most inspired by scenes and subjects that are playful, while still leaving room for more anxious interpretations. In these layered narratives, She explores nostalgia, the deterioration of memory, and why we cherish refuge in the ruins.
